When you write, add the time of the export, the export id or the SHA-256 shown in the app, and the error text. Never send us the exported ZIP or message content.

Frequently asked questions

Which chats can I export? Your own 1:1, group and meeting chats in Microsoft Teams: the chats you are a member of. Team channels are not included in this version.

What is in the ZIP? index.html (an offline viewer with search), one chat.html, messages.json and messages.csv per chat, all-messages.csv, manifest.json (scope, counts and the SHA-256 of each file) and SHA256SUMS.txt.

How do I check that the export is complete and unchanged? Compare the SHA-256 of the ZIP with the value shown in the app and in the admin audit log. Inside the ZIP, run sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt (Linux/macOS) or compare with Get-FileHash (Windows).

Are attachments included? Attachments are listed with their name, type and link. The files stay in OneDrive or SharePoint with their own permissions. Inline images are listed by id.

Does the app keep my messages? No. The ZIP is built in memory and deleted after 15 minutes or when you select "Delete now". The audit log keeps only metadata.

I see "Ask your admin to grant consent". Your organization must approve the permissions User.Read and Chat.Read. An admin can do this in the Admin tab of the app, or in the Microsoft Entra admin center (Enterprise applications).

Who sees the Admin tab? Users with the Global Administrator, Teams Administrator, Compliance Administrator or Compliance Data Administrator role, and admins named in the deployment.

How do I sign in? In Teams the app signs you in with your Teams account. If single sign-on is not available, select "Sign in with Microsoft", copy the code, open microsoft.com/devicelogin and sign in with your work account.
